Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries

Body established in 1968 to safeguard the interests of its members and encourage economic cooperation within the petroleum industry. Its members are Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates; together they account for more than 25% of the world's oil output. The organization's headquarters are in Kuwait.
