Oribasius (c. 325–403)

Greek doctor. He was the physician of the Roman emperor Julian, accompanying him to Gaul in 355 and Persia in 363. He became quaestor (magistrate) of Constantinople in 361. He was banished temporarily by the emperors Valentinian and Valens, but recalled in 370. Half of his Medicinalia Collecta is extant. It is compiled largely from Galen and others, and preserves the works of many medical writers of antiquity.
