Ornstein, Leo (1892-2002)

Russian-born US composer and pianist. Notorious in his twenties for being a ‘futuristic’ pianist and composer, he receded into obscurity for decades before his work was rediscovered in the 1970s.

Ornstein was born in Kremenchug, Russia. A child prodigy, he moved to the USA with his family in 1907.
