Ortiz, Christina (1950– )

Brazilian pianist. She studied in Paris with Magda Tagliafero. After winning the 1969 Van Cliburn Competition she studied further with Rudolf Serkin at the Curtis Institute. She made her recital debut in New York in 1971 and in London in 1973; she settled in London that year. Her Salzburg debut was made in 1983 with Mozart's Concerto K453. She has played concerts with the Vienna, Berlin, and New York Philharmonic Orchestras, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Concertgebouw and Philharmonia Orchestras.
