Ortiz, Diego (c. 1510–c. 1570)

Spanish composer. He went to Naples in 1555 to become maestro di cappella to the viceroy, the Duke of Alva. While there, he worked with many other Spanish musicians, including Francisco de Salinas. He wrote an important treatise on ornamentation in viol music, the Trattado de Glosas, published in two editions (Spanish and Italian) at Rome in 1553.
