Roermond
| Town in the province of Limburg, Netherlands, on the River Maas (see Meuse), 45 km/28 mi northeast of Maastricht; population (1996) 43,800. The chief industries are the manufacture of cotton and woollen goods, tobacco, and dyeing. There is some fine carving in the 13th-century Romanesque Munsterkerk (minster). |
