Oudinot, Charles Nicholas (1767–1847)

French soldier. He served with distinction under Napoleon at the battles of Austerlitz and Wagram, and was made a marshal. He went over to the Bourbons in 1814 and later served in Spain. His son, Charles, duc de Reggio (1791–1863), commanded the French army which restored the Pope to Rome in 1849. Oudinot was born in Bar-le-Duc, France.
