Oudry, Jean-Baptiste

Oudry, Jean-Baptiste (1686–1755)

French painter and designer. He produced animal and still-life pictures and tapestry designs. One of King Louis XV's favourite painters, he designed for him a series of large tapestries, Les Chasses de Louis XV/The Hunts of Louis XV. He was also director of the Gobelins and Beauvais tapestry works.

He was a pupil of Nicolas de Largillièrre.
