Oudtshoorn

Town on the Little Karoo plateau, Western Cape province, South Africa, 443 km/275 mi west of Port Elizabeth; population (2001) 84,700. Oudtshoorn is the centre of the ostrich feather industry, and of a district which is an important producer of tobacco, fruit, wine, honey, cereals, alfalfa, and vegetable seeds. Industries include dairy production, furniture, leather footwear, and tobacco. Tourism is also important.

Nearby are the Cango stalactite caves.
