Seraing

Industrial suburb of the city of Liège, Belgium, on the River Meuse. The crystal works of Val-Saint-Lambert is situated in Seraing. It is ringed by decaying remnants of heavy industry.

Seraing, 6 km/4 mi southwest of Liège, had coal mines and an industrial complex founded in 1817 by Charles Cockerill, comprising blast furnaces, smelting houses, foundries, steelworks, and engineering shops.
