Bighorn

River flowing through north Wyoming and south Montana, USA; length 550 km/340 mi. A continuation of the Wind River north of the Wind River Canyon and the Owl Creek Mountains in west central Wyoming, it flows north through Bighorn Lake and joins the Yellowstone River.

Below (north of) the Yellowtail Dam which forms the lake, the Bighorn is a popular trout fishing river. The Little Bighorn River joins it from the southeast and the Shoshone River enters Bighorn Lake from the southwest.
