Owen Wingrave

Opera in two acts by Benjamin Britten (libretto by Myfanwy Piper after Henry James). It was first performed for BBC TV on 16 May 1971 and later produced at Covent Garden, London, on 10 May 1973. In the story, pacifist Owen Wingrave drops out of Spencer Coyle's military school. His family is disgusted. Fellow student Lechmere drives Owen to spend the night in a haunted room; a family prophecy comes true and Owen is found dead.
