Owens, Anne Marie (1955- )

English mezzo-soprano. She studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and made her debut as Mistress Quickly with Glyndebourne Touring Opera. With the English National Opera ensemble she has sung Charlotte, Rosina, Preziosilla, and Solokha in the UK premiere of Rimsky-Korsakov's Christmas Eve (1988). She has sung in London at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden from 1989, in Die Zauberflöte, Die Walküre, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, and Boris Godunov (Hostess). She has performed Stravinsky's Jocasta and Dukas's Ariane for Opera North (1990). Other roles include Arnalta in L'incoronazione di Poppea (Glyndebourne), Baba the Turk (Brussels), and Maddalena. She made her US debut with the Messiah at Detroit.
