Owings Mills

Town in Baltimore County, northern Maryland, USA, 19 km/12 mi northwest of downtown Baltimore; population (1990) 9,500. An affluent residential suburb just outside the Baltimore Beltway, Owings Mills has substantial parkland, corporate business facilities, and some high-tech industry. It developed around three corn mills established by Samuel Owings in the mid 18th century; his home and the upper mill still stand.
