Oxon Hill

Suburb in Prince George's County, central Maryland, USA, 11 km/7 mi, south of Washington DC; population with Glassmanor (1990) 35,800. The area is principally a dormitory community for Washington. In the late 18th and 19th century the district was characterized by large estates and fortifications defending the capital. John Hanson, president of the pre-constitution USA, died and was buried in 1783 at Oxon Hill Manor.
