Ozark

Seat of Dale County, southeastern Alabama, USA, 8 km/5 mi east of Fort Rucker and 35 km/22 mi northwest of Dothan; population (1990) 12,900. A former cotton centre, it is now a processing and distribution point for the region's pigs, peanuts, and corn. The town manufactures helicopters, and is the seat of the Alabama Aviation and Technical College (1960). Local growth soared with the establishment of Fort Rucker during World War II.
