P3P

Technology that allows the authors of Web sites to express their privacy practices in a standard format that can be retrieved automatically and interpreted easily by a Web browser. Privacy is one of the major problems facing users of the Web today. Online shopping requires users to submit personal and financial details over the Web, and who has this information, and what they do with it, are issues that often are not appreciated by Web users. The browser can compare the privacy policy of the Web site with that expressed by the user and alert the user if there is a conflict with their pre-defined preferences for the use of their personal information.
