Padovanino, Il Alessandro Varotari (1590-1650)

Italian painter. He worked both in Venice and Padua, showing a great admiration for Titian, whose works he copied. Although not an original artist, he had a number of disciples and preserved the tradition of a grand decorative style to which Tiepolo was to give fresh life.
