Paepcke, Walter P (1897–1960)

US businessman and philanthropist. He worked in his father's lumber business before he started the Container Corporation of America in 1926. Believing that businessmen should work to make culture more commercially viable, he developed Aspen, Colorado, into a winter resort and cultural centre. He was director and trustee of several educational foundations. Paepcke was born in Chicago, Illinois.
