ordered pair

In mathematics, any pair of numbers whose order makes a difference to their meaning. Coordinates are an ordered pair because the point (2,3) is not the same as the point (3,2). Vulgar fractions are ordered pairs because the top number gives the quantity of parts while the bottom gives the number of parts into which the unit has been divided.
