Pakula, Alan J(ay) (1928-1998)

US film director and producer. His compelling, well-crafted films include Klute (1971), The Parallax View (1974), and All the President's Men (1976). His later work includes Sophie's Choice (1982), Presumed Innocent (1990), The Pelican Brief (1993), and The Devil's Own (1997). He worked as a producer mostly in the 1960s.

In his role as producer he was involved with Fear Strikes Out, To Kill A Mockingbird (1962) and The Stalking Moon (1969), all directed by Robert Mulligan (1925- ).
