Pallavicino, Carlo

Pallavicino (or Pallavicini), Carlo (c. 1630–1688)

Italian composer. He lived at Salò, married Giulia Rossi at Padua and settled there, producing operas between 1666 and 1687 at Venice, where he also lived for a time. In 1667–73 he was at the Saxon court at Dresden; first as assistant and later as first music director. In 1674 he was back at Venice, but was recalled to Dresden in 1685 to reorganize the Italian opera.
