Palm Bay

City in Brevard County, eastern-central Florida, USA, west of the Indian River lagoon, 98 km/60 mi southeast of Orlando; population (1990) 62,600. Like Melbourne, just to the northeast, it is a residential centre that has grown rapidly since the building of the Kennedy Space Centre at Cape Canaveral. Its population more than tripled in the 1980s.
