Palmer, Arnold Daniel (1929- )US golfer who helped to popularize the professional sport in the USA in the 1950s and 1960s. He won the Masters in 1958, 1960, 1962, and 1964, the US Open in 1960, and the British Open in 1961 and 1962. He won the Ryder Cup seven times, including once as playing captain and once as non-playing captain.
