Panny, Joseph (1794–1838)

Austrian violinist and composer. He studied at home and with Eybler in Vienna, where he made friends with Paganini during his visits there. He appeared in Germany, Norway, Paris, and London. He founded a school of music at Weisserling in Alsace, and another at Mainz.

Works

three masses, Requiem; three string quartets; piano trios; Scène dramatique for the violin G string (for Paganini) and other solos; choruses; songs.
