His visit to Papa Doc in Haiti, being friends with Fanny Craddock and how many times John Paul Getty chewed his steak are all covered in this memoir.
He catches up with a Hollywood plastic surgeon and his wife who he met 30 years ago, and re-examines the interview with Haitian dictator Papa Doc that won him the prestigious Dumont Award.
He lived in exile in Quebec during the Papa Doc Duvalier regime but returned to his country in the 1970s and left again only once, to travel to Argentina to accept a prestigious award in recognition of his literary achievements.
