IRS officials said that in implementing certain additional reporting requirements, the agency would need to meet the terms of the Paperwork Reduction Act, which requires agencies to minimize the paperwork burden they impose on the public and maximize the practical utility of the information they collect.
The estimated reporting burden under the Paperwork Reduction Act has changed to reflect the latest estimates and, finally, the format, font, organization, and grammar of the text have been improved to make Form 1-9 more readable and user-friendly.
Accordingly, the recommendations for paperwork reduction set forth in the Appendix to this letter encompass a broad range of reporting requirements under both Acts.
