Paris Psalter

Byzantine illuminated manuscript (Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris), probably dating from the 9th century AD. One of the finest Byzantine manuscripts, it contains remarkable examples of painting in the Hellenistic style.

They include graceful allegorical figures such as that of Night with a gauze veil studded with stars, and a series of pictures illustrating the life of the Old Testament king David.
