Park, Maud (May) Wood (1871-1955)

US suffrage leader. She campaigned for the Nineteenth Amendment, which gave women the vote in 1920. She was the first president of the League of Women Voters (1919-24) and headed the Women's Joint Congressional Committee. She travelled and lectured all her life. Her book Front Door Lobby (published 1960) tells of her Washington years.

She was born in Boston, Massachusetts. A graduate of Radcliffe College in 1895, she co-founded the College Equal Suffrage League in 1901.
