Parker, Arthur C(aswell) (1881-1955)

Seneca anthropologist, and museum director. A Harvard-trained anthropologist, in 1906 he was appointed state archaeologist for the New York State Museum (1906-25). He helped found the American Indian Magazine (1911-16) and in 1925 was named director of the Rochester Museum of Arts and Sciences. He wrote extensively about the Iroquois. He was born in Cattaraugus, New York.
