Parry Islands

Group of islands shared between the Canadian territories of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, west of Baffin Bay and north of Lancaster Sound, Viscount Melville Sound, and Barrow Strait. The Parry Islands (a subgroup of the Queen Elizabeth Islands) include Bathurst Island, Melville Island, Cornwallis Island, and Prince Patrick Island. Prince Patrick Island and Eglinton Islands are in the Northwest Territory as are the western parts of Melville, Mackenzie King, and Borden Islands. The islands are covered with tundra and are uninhabited.

The islands are named after English admiral and explorer William Parry, who visited them in 1819. They were further explored by expeditions searching for English naval explorer John Franklin.

The Seymour Island Migratory Bird Sanctuary (1975) is located off Bathurst Island.
