particle size

In chemistry, the size of the grains that make up a powder. The grain size has an effect on certain properties of a substance.

Finely divided powders have a greater surface area for contact; they therefore react more quickly, dissolve more readily, and are of increased efficiency as catalysts compared with their larger-sized counterparts.
