Partos, Ödön (1907-1977)

Hungarian-Israeli composer. He studied violin with Jeno Hubay and composition with Zoltán Kodály. He led various orchestras in Lucerne, Berlin, and Budapest between 1925 and 1936, and from 1938 played viola with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

Orchestral

Yis Kor (In Memoriam) for viola and string orchestra (1947); Song of Praise for viola and orchestra (1949); symphonic fantasy En Gev (1952); Phantasy on Yemeni Themes for chorus and orchestra; Images for orchestra (1960).

Chamber

Fuses for viola and chamber orchestra (1970); Arabesque for oboe and chamber orchestra (1975); two string quartets (1932, 1960).
