pascalSI unit of pressure, equal to one newton per square metre. It replaces bars and millibars (105 Pa equals one bar). It is named after the French mathematician Blaise Pascal. PascalHigh-level computer-programming language. Designed by Niklaus Wirth in the 1960s as an aid to teaching programming, it is still widely used as such in universities, and as a good general-purpose programming language.
