Pasero, Tancredi (1893–1983)

Italian bass. He studied in Turin and sang in the Italian provinces from 1918. In 1926 he sang Philip II under Toscanini at La Scala, Milan, where he remained until 1951. He also appeared in New York at the Metropolitan Opera House (1928–33), where he made his debut as Alvise. Between 1933 and 1948 he sang at the Florence Festival where he created roles in operas by Mascagni, Pizzetti, and Ghedini. Other roles included Wotan, Gurnemanz, Boris, and Sarastro.
