Paso Robles

Town in San Luis Obispo County, western-central California, USA, on the Salinas River, 39 km/24 mi north of San Luis Obispo; population (1990) 18,600. The area is a major supplier of wine, grapes, and almonds. Tourism is a long-established industry, visitors being drawn by the town's sulphur springs and mud baths. The large Camp Roberts military reservation, an important training centre during World War II, lies to the north near San Miguel.
