Pastoral Symphony

Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, no. 6, in F major, Op. 68, composed 1807–08 and first performed at Vienna, on 22 December 1808. The title-page bears Beethoven's own heading of Symphonie pastorale, and on the first violin part is the inscription, ‘Pastoral-Sinfonie oder Erinnerung an das Landleben (mehr Ausdruck der Empfindung als Mahlerey/Pastoral Symphony or Recollection of Country Life (Expression of Emotion rather than Painting)’.
