Pauk, György (1936- )

Hungarian-born British violinist. He studied at the Liszt Academy, Budapest, and after winning important competitions in Genoa, Munich, and Paris, he settled in London in 1961. He often played Bartók, and formed a piano trio with Peter Frankl and Ralph Kirshbaum. He was a professor at the Royal Academy of Music, London, from 1987. In 1991 he was director of the Mozart Bicentenary Festival, London.
