| Name given to Haydn's Mass in C major, which was composed in 1796 and performed at Vienna, on 26 December 1796. The reason for the unusually prominent timpani, especially in the Agnus Dei, is suggested by Haydn's own title, Missa in tempore belli/Mass in time of war. |
