Pauvre matelot, Le

Opera by Darius Milhaud (libretto by Cocteau), produced at the Opéra-Comique, Paris, on 16 December 1927. In the story, a sailor returns home to his wife, but passes himself off as a friend of her husband. He tells her that the sailor is a prisoner. When he spends the night in her house, the wife kills him (still not realizing his true identity) in order to take his money and free her husband.
