Paxos

Smallest of the seven main Ionian Islands of Greece, lying in the Ionian Sea, off the west coast of Greece, 16 km/10 mi southeast of Corfu; area 18 sq km/7 sq mi. The island is mountainous and partly wooded. Olives, almonds, and grapes are grown, but agricultural production suffers from shortage of water. Paxos is a major tourist destination. The capital is Gaios, situated on a natural harbour.
