Pearl City

Town on the southern coast of Oahu, Hawaii, USA, on Pearl Harbor and the Pearl River, 14 km/9 mi northwest of Honolulu; population (1990) 31,000. Largely residential, it also has sugar processing industries. Educational facilities include Leeward Community College (1968) and the University of Hawaii: West Oahu (1976). In 1941 Pearl City was damaged during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
