Pearsall, Robert

    0.01 sec.

Pearsall, Robert (Lucas) (1795–1856)

English composer and barrister. He composed choral works, madrigals, and church music.

He studied law and became a barrister in 1821, though he had already composed by that time. In 1825, he settled at Mainz, devoting himself entirely to music. Another year in England, 1829–30, was his last, except for visits; he settled in Germany for good, although he inherited a property at Willsbridge, Gloucestershire, in 1836. He sold this and bought Wartensee Castle on Lake Constance.

Works

Church music

church music (Anglican and Roman Catholic), Requiem (1853–56).

Choral and vocal

overture and chorus for Shakespeare's Macbeth, madrigals, part-songs.
