Pederson, Monte (1959- )

US bass-baritone. He studied with Hans Hotte in Munich, and made his debut in 1986 at San Francisco, in The Medium. From 1987 he sang in Europe, including Szymanowski's King Roger at Bremen and Wagner's Dutchman at the Bregenz Festival. In 1990 he sang Pizarro in Fidelio at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, and Amfortas at La Scala, Milan and Houston (1991-92). He appeared at the 1992 Salzburg Festival, in From the House of the Dead. In 1990 he sang the Walküre Wotan to open the season at La Scala, Milan.
