Pedrell, Carlos (1878–1941)

Uruguayan composer of Spanish descent. He studied at Montevideo, with his uncle Felipe Pedrell at Barcelona 1898–1900, and then with Vincent d'Indy and Bréville at the Schola Cantorum in Paris. In 1906 he went to Buenos Aires, where he held various official music posts and founded the Sociedad Nacional de Música in 1915. In 1921, he settled in Paris.
