pegasid

Marine fish of the family Pegasidae, the only family within the order Pegasiformes. Pegasids are 5–15 cm/2–6 in long with armoured bodies and large winglike pectoral fins. There are five species and they are found only in the Indo-Pacific.

Pegasids are under threat due to demands for their use in Chinese medicine as a treatment for respiratory diseases and cancers.
