Pegg, Simon John (1970– )

English actor, comedian, and scriptwriter. He is especially known for his comic timing and mimicry. After several successful British television comedy series, particularly Spaced (1999), which he also co-wrote, he received critical acclaim as co-writer and star of the successful zombie film parody Shaun of the Dead (2004).

He had starring roles in the British comedy series Six Pairs of Pants (1995), Faith in the Future (1995), Big Train (1998), and Hippies (1999). Film work includes 24 Hour Party People (2002) and the historic drama The Reckoning (2003) with Paul Bettany, as well as television films including Steven Spielberg's World War II HBO drama Band of Brothers (2001) and the drama Final Demand (2003).

He was born in Gloucestershire, England, and graduated from Bristol University in 1991 with a degree in theatre, film, and television. He moved to London in 1993 and worked as a stand-up comedian before launching his television career. He frequently collaborates with actor and comedian Jessica Stevenson (1973– ) and director Edgar Wright (1974– ).
