Penarth

Coastal resort in the Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales, 7 km/4 mi south of Cardiff; population (2001) 23,250. In the early 20th century it was a busy port and a major exporter of coal, but is now primarily a residential area for Cardiff. It has a fine esplanade and pier, and also a country park.
