Pendine

Village in Carmarthenshire, southwest Wales, situated on Carmarthen Bay. There is a fine stretch of sand nearby (Pendine Sands) which has been used for car speed tests; land speed records have been broken here and a Museum of Speed celebrates its history.

Residents of Penybryn, part of the Pendine Care organisation, are putting their artistic talents to good use by supporting the BBC Blue Peter Christmas appeal.
DAN O'Neill's recent article on the world record land speed attempts at Pendine brought back memories for me.
Parry-Thomas had his eyes fixed on the World Land Speed record and this he smashed with a specially converted Higham Special on Pendine Sands, South Wales in 1927.
