Penny for a Song

Opera by Richard Rodney Bennett (libretto by C Graham from John Whiting's play), produced in London, at Sadler's Wells, on 31 October 1967. The story is set in 19th-century England. Sir Timothy Bellboys is concerned that his country is vulnerable to invasion, and comedy arises as the local militia is mistaken for an for an assault force.
